April 2024 Concert – Spring Celebrations

The Alliance Symphony Orchestra will present its third of three 2023-2024 concerts on Sunday, April 14 at 3 p.m. in the Brush Performance Hall of the Giese Center for the Performing Arts.

The concert program features Schubert’s Mass No. 2 in G, with the Mount Union Alliance Chorale and the KSU Salem Choir.

In addition, we proudly present the winners of the 2023 Solo con tutti competition. Matthew Eversdyke will sing the aria Mamamina, Il catalogo e questo from Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and Schuyler Hollenbach will sing The Hours Creep On Apace from Gilbert and Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore.

The program also showcases our music director Eric Benjamin’s own composition Hope is the Thing with Feathers, which brings together the orchestra, both choirs, the UMU Flute Ensemble, the the UMU Handbell Choir.

The program opens with Mozart’s Overture to La Clemenza di Tito and comes to a grand conclusion with Ippolitov-Ivanov’s Procession of the Sardar, and the ever-popular Pomp and Circumstance No. 1 by Edward Elgar.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors/veterans and free for all students. Student and child tickets must be ordered by phone or in person. Tickets are available online at mountunion.edu/boxoffice or through the Mount Union Box Office, at (330) 821-2565. Box Office hours are from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday when classes are in session. The box office will also open for ticket sales one hour before the performance.
